Our Story

A Legacy of Care in Sanford

Martin Eye Associates was founded in 2004 when Dr. Alex Martin joined Dr. Larry O'Connell, the founder of the practice in 1973 and a lifelong family friend and mentor.

Today, Drs. Alex and Lynne Martin continue that legacy of personalized, compassionate eye care. Our team is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to every patient who walks through our doors.

We're proud members of Vision Source, the nation's largest network of private-practice optometrists, which allows us to combine the personal touch of a family practice with access to the latest technology and best practices in eye care.

Dr. Alex Martin

Co-Owner & Managing Partner

Dr. Martin received his BA from East Carolina University and his Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He specializes in disease management including dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye care. He also serves as a consultant for Vision Source, providing optical lectures to 3,000+ members nationwide.

Dr. Lynne N. Martin

Co-Owner

Dr. Lynne Martin earned her BS from Bucknell University and her OD from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, followed by a Primary Care residency. She specializes in specialty contact lenses, refractive surgery co-management, and corneal disease. Previously, she was co-managing doctor at LASIK Plus in Raleigh.
